Waste is becoming a priority for many businesses, but access to waste data is time consuming, aggregated, inaccurate, and often arrives too late. To bridge this gap, the Method InSight system was developed to provide waste data that is granular, accurate & timely in order to:

• Track progress and identify problem areas
• Infer meaningful insights to inform behaviour change
• Produce reliable reporting
• And most importantly – reduce waste!

What you can measure, you can manage

Five years of research and design has gone into the theory and technology behind Method InSight:

• Discreet weight sensors sit underneath each Method Sixty bin and are accurate within +/- 1 gram
• A single rechargeable battery powers each station and is designed to last 6-12 months
• Significant weight changes are tracked every 5 minutes (there is a little time to correct misplaced waste!) and uploaded to the cloud every hour

Microsoft's goal is to divert 90% of waste from landfill and Method InSight has been installed to help you track your progress.

Any waste that is separated into the Paper, Mixed Recycling, and Organics bins, contributes to your total landfill diversion rate - but watch out for contaminating these bins since this could undo your work! If in doubt, ask an expert or pop it in landfill.

Your facilities management team can help with which bins to use, how to dispose of waste properly, and which items destined for the landfill could be swapped with more sustainable alternatives.
